As recently as a month ago, Barcelona president Josep Bartomeu reportedly claimed that the club paid over €100m to acquire Neymar in 2013. However, as part of recent legal proceedings between Barca and Spanish tax authorities, the club have revealed the actual fee that they paid, and it is shockingly low.
The investigation into the transfer began after Brazilian investment group DIS complained that they were cheated out of getting their fair share of the fee. They were entitled to 40% of the sale price, but claimed that they were given less because the official terms of the deal were not released.
